Liz Sousa serves as Chief Accounting Officer at SM CRE Services, where she leads the firm's financial strategy and oversees all accounting, financial reporting, capital management, and compliance functions across the company's managed portfolios. She is responsible for financial planning and analysis, investor reporting, internal controls, and ensuring disciplined financial operations that support the firm's long-term growth objectives.
Prior to joining SM CRE, Liz served as Real Estate Controller at MIT Investment Management Company (MITIMCo), where she provided strategic leadership for accounting and reporting activities related to the organization's direct real estate investments. Earlier in her career, she was a member of the founding team at Bain Capital Real Estate (BCRE), serving as Finance Manager. In that role, she oversaw accounting and reporting for a sub-portfolio of direct real estate investments, prepared periodic financial reports for senior management, and maintained the integrity of portfolio accounting systems and the general ledger.
With more than 25 years of experience in real estate finance, Liz brings deep expertise in portfolio analytics, operational budgeting, loan compliance, and institutional reporting. She partners closely with executive leadership and ownership groups to drive financial transparency, strengthen operational performance, and support strategic growth initiatives.
Liz holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Bentley University.
