Liz Sousa serves as Chief Accounting Officer at SM CRE Services, where she leads the firm’s financial strategy and oversees accounting, financial reporting, capital management, and compliance across the company’s managed portfolios. She provides leadership across financial planning and analysis, investor reporting, and internal controls, ensuring disciplined financial operations that support the firm’s long-term growth.
Prior to joining SM CRE Services, Liz served as Real Estate Controller at MIT Investment Management Company (MITIMCo), where she provided leadership for accounting and reporting activities related to the organization’s direct real estate investments. Earlier in her career, she was a member of the founding team at Bain Capital Real Estate, where she served as Finance Manager and oversaw accounting and reporting for a sub-portfolio of direct real estate investments.
With more than 25 years of experience in real estate finance, Liz brings expertise in portfolio analytics, operational budgeting, loan compliance, and institutional reporting. She works closely with executive leadership and ownership groups to promote financial transparency, strengthen operational performance, and support strategic growth initiatives.
Liz holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Bentley University.
